DIFFICULTÉ: Normal

Meeting place for the tour is New Delhi, the better we will visit by TukTuk. However, we do not lose too much time in the hectic city,  after a  restful night at the hotel we travel by bus  to Chandigarh, where the Enfields are waiting for us. Coming from the lowlands, we climb the foothillsof the Himalayas up to Shimla 2.000m. We may enjoy the recent rain for the next two weeks because  from now we follow the Sutlej River in desert-like dry zones, on both sides of the track accompanied by high mountains.
From Recong Peo we need a special permit for the drive along the Chinese border, a few years ago was a visit to the area for tourists completely impossible. Recong Peo is the last place you look at the people as "Indians," now we have quite the feeling to be in Tibet and spectacular Buddhist temples and monasteries join the tour. Certainly the largest and most impressive temple is located in the small town of Kaza, in 2009 inaugurated by the Dalai Lama personally.  Short  distance behind  Kaza we have to cross the first  "high pass", the Kurzum  La with approx. height of 4.500m.
The track  between the Pass and Keylong looks more like a stage of enduro race than a regular road because of abundant water but the faithful Enfields do much better than expected. From now on we follow the National Road 21, the only access to Leh, since the region around Srinagar due to political tensions with neighboring Pakistan is no longer accessible. After crossing the passes Lachalung La (5.065m) and Taglang La (5.330m), we have earned a rest day in Leh honestly without motorcycle. With renewed energy we drive over the highest pass in the world, the Khardung La (5.620m) to Nubra Valley. The views of the Salto Kangri (7.742m) and a bit of luck on K2 (8.611m) are breathtaking. Even the way to Pangong Tso, which is divided equally in India and Tibet, offers spectacular views of thesurrounding mountains. The last driving day of the tour takes us back to Leh. By Air (New Delhi), and luxury bus (Agra), we make a side trip to the Taj Mahal, India's most famous building. The 14 Days India have passed quickly, a motorcycle trip in a very different world that we will remember for long time...........
